Introduction to Brad's Struggle

Brad has been bravely battling a rare and 🎗️ aggressive form of cancer—NK/T-cell lymphoma—that has severely impacted his sinuses, voice box, and overall health.

• This type of lymphoma comes with symptoms like persistent sinus congestion, nasal pain, difficulty swallowing, voice loss, and sometimes facial swelling.

• Unfortunately, these symptoms are often overlooked or misdiagnosed because they mimic less serious conditions such as sinus infections or mold allergies.

• In Brad’s case, the symptoms persisted for months, and initially, doctors thought it was due to mold spores or other minor ailments.

• Because of this common issue—where these symptoms are overlooked or misdiagnosed—months went by before the real problem was finally identified.

• It wasn’t until his condition worsened significantly, and a biopsy was finally performed, that the true diagnosis was revealed: NK/T-cell lymphoma.

   Brad’s fight is inspiring

• Despite the intense pain, burning sensations when swallowing, and the loss of taste, he refuses to give up.

• His doctors have recommended the placement of a feeding tube to help with nutrition, but Brad is fiercely resisting it, embodying that fighting spirit every day.

• He is currently undergoing daily radiation therapy and is preparing to start chemotherapy after completing his radiation cycles.

  The Exhausting Reality

• His journey is physically and emotionally exhausting — last month alone, he had over 30 medical appointments.

   A Mother's Burden

• Due to his difficulty speaking on the phone, his mother, aged 71, has taken on the immense responsibility of scheduling every appointment and arranging rides to and from the hospital, managing this heavy burden from afar.

  Challenges and Limited Resources

• Brad’s situation is further complicated by his Medicaid restrictions, which prevent him from moving out of Virginia without waiting 3 to 6 months for coverage.

• His illness requires urgent and continuous treatment that he cannot postpone, yet support remains limited.

• Often, he misses appointments because of lack of support, risking his recovery.

• This battle affects not only Brad but his entire family, especially his mother, who tirelessly supports him from a distance under great strain.
